Why We Love

Agni

Agni is an important deity in Hinduism, and is known as the god of fire. He is often seen as a friend and protector of humanity, particularly for safeguarding the home. In Vedic rituals, Agni plays a central role and is mentioned frequently in the Rigveda scripture.

Agni has been worshipped since ancient times and has many different meanings. The most famous meaning is that of the fire-god, but there is also a lesser known definition of “digestive fire” used in Ayurveda, which refers to the body’s ability to digest food properly. Agni dev, or Hindu fire god, was significant during the Vedic era and continues to be worshipped today with various festivals dedicated to him.
