Why We Love
Bhujangasana
Bhujangasana, or Cobra Pose, is an energizing backbend that is a part of the sun salutation sequence in yoga. It is also known as Cobra Pose because it resembles the shape of a cobra when done correctly. In ayurveda, Bhujangasana is believed to stimulate the digestive fire and help with digestion. It can also help to reduce stress and anxiety, improve posture, and strengthen the spine.
When practicing Bhujangasana, you should start by lying on your stomach with your feet together and your hands placed flat on the ground directly under your shoulders. Bend your elbows straight back and hug them into your sides as you inhale and lift your chest from the floor. Keep your gaze forward and press down through your hands to lift up further until you feel a comfortable stretch in your upper body. Hold this pose for several breaths before slowly lowering yourself back down to the starting position.
