Why We Love
Buddhi
Buddhi is an important concept in Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system of medicine. It is derived from the Sanskrit root budh, which means “to know” or “to be awake”. In Ayurveda, Buddhi is the intellect or wisdom that helps us to make decisions and understand our environment. It is believed to be the ultimate knowledge and it plays an important role in cognition and memory.
Buddhi is closely related to Mana (mind) and Atma (soul). Together, these three concepts form a holistic view of the human being as a spiritual being with physical, mental and emotional aspects. According to Ayurveda, Buddhi is responsible for understanding and interpreting information from our senses. It also helps us to think logically and make wise decisions.
In addition to its role in cognition and decision-making, Buddhi also has a spiritual significance in Ayurveda. The Gayatri mantra is a prayer offered to the sun that seeks to stimulate and enlighten the mind. This mantra speaks of Buddhi as a source of divine knowledge that can help us find inner peace and enlightenment.
