Why We Love
Mala
Mala is an important concept in Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system of medicine. It refers to the waste products that are produced by the body as a result of its metabolic and physiological activities. These waste products include feces (purisha), urine (mutra), sweat (sveda) and various secretions from the body’s organs. The skin, hair, sweat and other bodily secretions all act as protective barriers for the body, helping to regulate its temperature and protect it from infection.
The regular elimination of these mala or waste products is essential for maintaining good health. When they accumulate in the body, they can cause a range of ailments such as indigestion, constipation, fatigue and skin problems.
It is important to note that mala is not just physical waste but also mental or emotional waste that accumulates in our bodies over time. This can manifest itself in feelings of stress, anxiety or depression which can lead to further physical ailments if left unchecked.
