Why We Love

Nasya

Nasya is an Ayurvedic treatment modality that involves the application of medicinal herbs, decoctions, and oils to the nasal passages. It is used to support the sinuses, nose, throat, and head. This treatment has been practiced for centuries in India as part of a holistic approach to health and wellness.

Nasya works by clearing out blockages in the nasal passages which can lead to congestion and other issues such as sinusitis. The oil or decoction is applied through the nostrils using a dropper or syringe. This helps to lubricate and soothe the nasal passages while also promoting clarity and relieving tension.

The most common substances used in Nasya are vacha (calamus), brahmi (gotu kola), jatamamsi (spikenard), shatavari (asparagus racemosus), and anu tailam (medicated oil). These herbs have anti-inflammatory properties which help reduce inflammation in the nasal passages. They also help to clear out mucous buildup which can cause congestion and difficulty breathing.

In addition to clearing out blockages, Nasya also helps to improve mental clarity and focus by reducing stress levels. It can also be used as part of a self-care ritual for overall wellbeing.
