Why We Love
Pratyahara
Pratyahara in Ayurveda is a practice that helps to bring balance and harmony to the mind and body. It is an ancient Indian practice that has been used for centuries to help manage stress, reduce anxiety, and improve overall health.
Pratyahara is a Sanskrit term meaning “withdrawal of the senses” and it involves turning inward and focusing on one’s inner self. The practice of Pratyahara involves controlling the senses by detaching from external stimuli such as sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and touch. This helps to create an inner stillness which can lead to improved mental clarity, emotional stability, physical well-being, and spiritual growth.
The practice of Pratyahara begins with understanding one’s own body and mind. Through mindful observation of how we respond to different stimuli in our environment, we can begin to recognize patterns in our behavior that may be causing us distress or disharmony. Once these patterns are identified, we can start to make conscious choices about how we interact with our environment. We can also use Pratyahara as a tool for calming the mind by focusing on our breath or repeating mantras or affirmations.
