Why We Love
Virabhadrasana
Virabhadrasana, or Warrior Pose, is a standing pose that helps to strengthen the arms, shoulders, and thighs while also providing relief from sciatica and helping to maintain balance. The pose is named after the mythological Hindu warrior Virabhadra, who was an incarnation of the god Shiva.
In Ayurveda, Virabhadrasana is believed to be beneficial for improving physical strength and stamina as well as mental clarity. It can help to improve posture by increasing flexibility in the spine and strengthening the core muscles. Additionally, it can help to reduce stress levels by calming the mind and promoting relaxation.
The pose involves standing with your feet hip-width apart and your arms stretched out in front of you at shoulder height. You then twist your torso towards one side while keeping your hips facing forward. This helps to open up the chest area while stretching out the back muscles. Finally, you bring your arms together above your head with palms facing each other and hold this position for several breaths before repeating on the other side.
